Clifford Fossman, former Golden Gloves Champion of South Chicago, IL died at age 86 on September 29, 2009 in Anchorage, AK. As a teenager he moved from Amberg, WI with his mother to Chicago. He became acquainted with renowned boxing trainer Johnny Coulon, with whom he trained as an amateur boxer. After serving in the US Army during WWII in Europe and the Pacific, he returned to Chicago and reunited with Johnny Coulon, turned professional and compiled a record of 24-7-3 (6) from 1947-1950. He hung up the gloves to return to college, after which he pursued a teaching career with the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Alaska. In addition to teaching and raising a family he lived a life of adventure in Alaska.
