Ramey was an
extremely talented boxer; He was intelligent and clever and possessed
lightning quick hands and feet; Wesley was ranked among the Top Ten Lightweights In The World from 1931-1939; He
posted a 10-2 mark against seven champions - former champions or future
champions - but was carefully avoided by those holding a title and never
received a chance at a major championship
He defeated such men
as Tony Canzoneri, Lew Jenkins, Benny Bass, Ray Miller, Johnny
Jadick, Battling Shaw, Harry Weekly, Cocoa Kid, Eddie Ran, Santiago
